SPEAKER_02:  Urban Woman, your network, your sisterhood.

SPEAKER_00:  This mom’s bums and little one segment is proudly brought to you by Chilino Baby. Visit Chilino Baby in Gateway Amshlunga or head over to the online store chilino.co.z

SPEAKER_02:  That’s right, welcome back. It is time for your mom’s bums and little one segment proudly sponsored by Chilino Baby. And we are going to be talking about C-section with Do-dula. You are a little too much. It is time for you to be a little too much. I love you too.

SPEAKER_01:  I love you too. I love you too.

SPEAKER_02:  It is always such a pleasure to have you here and have a little laugh in between. But hey, talking about a little bit more serious things. C-section ain’t pretty.

SPEAKER_01:  No, it’s quite hardcore.

SPEAKER_02:  Yeah, and the healing and obviously the whole cut in itself. It’s much better than those days, right? Those days were more nasty.

SPEAKER_01:  Yes, it’s much smaller and much more controlled. That’s easier.

SPEAKER_02:  They’re much more neater. But I know what advice can you give to our mom’s out there with regards to preparing themselves for a visa.

SPEAKER_01:  Like with normal, but if you know you’re having a caesar, you have to prepare mentally. And for first time, you don’t know whether you’re going normal, whether you’re going natural. And so I always tell my mom’s, we have to prepare for both. Because we find that some moms become so hard and fast as I want a natural birth. And they don’t get the natural birth. And we end up with a lot of postpartum depression, a lot of blaming, a lot of guilt. Because they somehow feel like it was all up to them.

SPEAKER_02:  Not. You know, if we can just add the standard. Yeah. It’s not. Because then we would save and stop the war in Palestine.

SPEAKER_01:  Yes, it’s very ends. But also I feel I have to say, Razia, in the Indian community, it’s almost as… a superiority complex. Right. When you… A lot of the time when people go to visit new moms, the first question is, oh, you had a normal birth, the cesarean. Right. You know, as if one is better than the other. Yes, yes. A lot of the time that question in itself dismisses how mom’s actually feeling. Because you’re not checking on how she’s doing. You’re more concerned of how her baby came into this world. And it’s very, very dismissive.

SPEAKER_02:  It’s a form like of a judgment.

SPEAKER_01:  Yes.

SPEAKER_02:  So that new mom is already feeling all her emotions and there we go.

SPEAKER_01:  And then, oh, it was an easy way out. Oh, yeah. That’s all. It was an easy… Okay. It’s… You know, for somebody that has experienced natural birth and cesarean birth, cesarean birth is not the easy way out. It’s much, much harder. It takes so much for you to say, hey, yes, I’ll go on to the table, cut me, take my baby

SPEAKER_02:  out. That’s true, hey? Because everybody that I know, off of you see, you have more experience. Yeah. They’re opt for natural. Yeah. Like I have a fractured spine. Right. And the gynies will always tell you, let’s go for a cesare because you know, oh, I don’t think you’re going to make it. And I said, I will take my chances. Because you know what, if Allah’s the word, Allah’s the word, Allah, my spine to be fractured, he’s going to support me in this as well. Yes. So I told her, I’m going to take my chances. And some Hanallah…

SPEAKER_00:  Ah, really.

SPEAKER_02:  I really eat when so well. Yeah. So that’s a beautiful point you brought through. What should mom’s eat or drink before she sees her? Is it like, is there something as well?

SPEAKER_01:  No. With regards to that? No. So hopefully, obviously high fiable because postpartum with the, because of all the medication that you are given with the cesarean, but there’s a lot of codyne. Right. And we find a lot of moms get constipated. So we need to always be eating in a healthy way, not just because we’re giving birth or after birth. Right. But, um, fiber is very, very important for a caesar. And the most important food group, whether you have a cesarean birth or a normal birth, is protein because your body needs to rebuild and heal. Right. And if sustained a life for nine months, this baby has taken everything out of your body to grow an entire human being. Wow. So you have to repair and heal.

SPEAKER_02:  Absolutely. And what about, uh, so you said pro after giving birth protein and stuff?

SPEAKER_01:  Protein. Yes. Protein is very, very important postpartum, whether normal or caesar. But remember, um, more so I would think it would be for caesar because you’re rebuilding and healing cut muscle. There’s many, many layers to a caesar. The outside might look all nice and healed, but the inside isn’t, it takes a long time for it to heal. And the scar tissue formation and all of that is, yeah, that’s another story.

SPEAKER_02:  I do remember when we went for the ancine as well classes and showed us, you know, this is what a C-section is all about. And the years, the layers that they cut through and I was just amazed. I was in all looking at that. Right. So what would you say now with regards to the stitches? How can our moms take care of that?

SPEAKER_01:  Okay. So your stitches, care, basically you would follow whatever your caregiver tells you because all gun culture surgeons all work differently in terms of how they stitch and how they want you to heal and when they want you to take your plaster off. So you have to follow what they tell you because they’re very specific in how they, they did your cut and your stitches. So you would have to follow that. But a very, very important is how you rest after cesarean birth. And I said to you previously. Yes. So some moms that have a caesar and then they go home and say, Hey, I put a load of washing on and I cleaned my house and I cooked because it has become a complex because cesarean moms are made to feel as if they’ve taken the easy way out. Look at that. Right. It becomes a complex where they have to not push themselves above everything to make it seem like they can carry on as normal because you know what the normal birth you can carry on as normal. But the cesarean birth is major abdominal surgery. You need to heal. You need to allow for those cuts to merge and heal properly. Wushing yourself beyond that’s going to cause excessive scar healing and aggressive scar healing. And that’s when we have scar tissue formation, which can in some woman attached organs. And then that becomes a problem later on and with subsequent pregnancies. Okay. So you have to take good care of yourself. There’s a reason why they say six weeks. Okay.

SPEAKER_02:  I think that’s a problem. And many people wonder about it. I do he trauma. Okay. It’s going to leave anymore. We’re so fussy about ourselves, which is good. We should take care of it. But what about the scar? I think that they can do for that.

SPEAKER_01:  So you can get silicone plasters for me. Okay. We get them onto the cesars number one. Yeah. Some doctors find that you know, if you kill it, so if you have the aggressive healing on the scar and it raises, then the and if you have any, you’ll know if you kill it because if you got hurt anywhere on your body or cut, you’d see your key lower form. Right. Correct. Then for that, the surgeon actually injects before they stitch. Okay. And there’s some sort of medication that helps with that. Okay. Okay. It’s also we use a microscope tape over the caesar to prevent it from healing in all different bumpy forms. Right. And very, very, very important is six weeks after your cesarean birth is to see a pelvic flow of physiotherapist. Okay. Okay. So normal birth impacts your pelvic floor. Right. Pregnancy impacts your pelvic floor. Yes. Let’s leave birth out of it. Yeah. But cesarean birth, in my opinion, it impacts your pelvic floor muscles. In a much bigger way, in a larger scale, because you’ve been cutting through abdominal muscles. Yes. Right. And all of these muscles are always like a domino effect. If you interfere with one muscle, another muscle, it’s going to have, you know, an issue. So I always, always tell my clients normal birth or cesarean, more so cesarean birth is go to a pelvic floor physiotherapist after a birth. We have an amazing one in the lusius. If anybody needs details, they can contact me. And she will teach you how to massage your scar tissue, your cesarean, because we don’t want it to be stuck in any way on, like if you, it must be freely movable. Uh-huh. Right. So she’ll teach you how to do your scar tissue massage. She’ll do check your pelvic floor muscles. She’ll check if there needs to be released anywhere because jumping and coughing and sneezing and then you like, P yourself a little is not normal. Look at that. Right. A lot of women think that it’s normal. That’s not normal. Right. So all of that needs to be addressed. And they always say six weeks and they say you can start exercising and you spoke about why you can’t just go into high impact exercise after pregnancy. But you, it’s six weeks here, you might be healed, but your muscles are nowhere where they used to be. Yes. Okay. Yeah. Your organs are still finding their way. You still have water retention. You still tender. You still adjusting to being a mother. I didn’t know. That takes a long time, even if you have 10 kids and you have the 11th, it’s a huge adjustment to have another baby. True. Absolutely. So we need to afford ourselves the time and space to go through these processes in a very supportive way because you only have one body and only you’re responsible for it. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02:  Well said. Thank you so much for that. You know, one more thing is going from my mind because the other time, the previous segment, we spoke about tying the tummy. Yeah. Okay. That was like easier for normal. Yes. Yes.

SPEAKER_01:  So ideally between four and six weeks and only after the go ahead from your surgeon. Okay. Because like I said, they specific in the way they do things and we have to go back and ask them and make sure that it’s safe. I’m happy to tie a C-section mom’s belly after six weeks in a very specific way and allow for everything to come back together. But usually between four and six weeks.

SPEAKER_02:  There we go. You heard it. Don’t do anything before that. Don’t try and rush it and everything will fall in its place. In time, if you take care of yourself, finally sister, so may I take a message from our urban woman? Listeners, please.

SPEAKER_01:  Rest. Rest, rest, rest, especially for Cesarean birthmummies. I always say when I go to a mom, whether it’s a Cesarean birth or a normal birth, I would like to see you in bed and establishing breastfeeding with your baby because it takes six weeks to establish your breast milk production. It takes six weeks for you to heal from a Cesarean birth. I’ll just start to heal, to feel normal. But you know if you bend in awkward ways, you feel that pull and that pinch in that scar. So heal, rest, please rest because you’re not going to get this opportunity again. And what you do in the six weeks will impact you when you and old lady and wondering why this is happening. Here we go. So you might be fine now.

SPEAKER_02:  Yes, but in the long term you are benefiting yourself and not all. Heal, rest, there you have it, do take advantage of it and do not push yourself. Also enjoy that moment with, you know, bonding with your baby. Yes. Such a beautiful time. It is. Thank you so much, Samia, for your time as always. Such a pleasure, Ching-chang.
